Savannah shook my sleeve and yelled, "Look!"

Across the road, a truck drove by as pedestrians moved out of its way. For a moment, we were faced with the logo as the truck passed right by us—The Hardest Wood.

Are you kidding me? That easy?

We jumped up from the bench, running hand in hand. A few people yelled, ‘Watch it!’ as we interrupted their casual stroll. Thankfully, the road only weaved in one direction, and by the time we got to a crossroad, the van was parked at the lights, waiting for them to change.

Its indicators were flashing left, so we turned that way, running as fast as possible. I was thankful it was another long road, so that we could gain some speed on it when it got caught in traffic. By the time it drove past us, we thought we would lose it. Crowds of people were growing, and it was about to hit a traffic crossing.

But then it turned into a building, and we were able to catch our breath.

"C'mon." I gripped her hand, clammy from our exertion, and took her to the other side of the road, which faced the building. There was a small parking lot, so we were able to hide behind a ledge and watch.

"It's not a very big building. Must be mostly underground," I remarked.

"A bad place to be trapped if we were caught," Savannah said, then frowned at me with a kind of half-embarrassed laugh.

I looked at her with pride. She was leaping head first into this dangerous lifestyle—my lifestyle.

"What?" she asked at my look.

"Nothing.” I shook my head. “So, I guess we'll have to sneak in. Shame about the men guarding it.”

“That's not a man."

I hadn't given them much study, choosing instead to look at the building for point of entries, so they had been blurs to me before. Now that she pointed it out, I could see it wasn't a guy, but an ork.

A female ork, and not like any I had ever seen. She was tall for a female—had to be close to seven feet. And although her hair was tied up in a tight bun, its bright violet-red color still shined under her hat—as did her face. She didn't have the ugly snarl of an ork, or that pig nose they all shared.

For all intents and purposes, she was a beautiful woman, just a green one with tusks. Perhaps that made her even more so.

"What do you think?" Savannah asked, putting her hand on my leg.

"I can take the guy no problem, the ork though? I'm sure with your help we could team her no problem. But-"

"But?" She ran her hand up my thigh.

"The guards are right there, on the street. People are constantly walking past. Someone would see us jump them."

"If only there was a way for you to convince someone to sneak you in." Savannah ran her fingers further up my thigh, stroking between my legs.

"Is it really the time for that?" I laughed.

To my surprise, she asked, "Don't you think she's cute?"

I stroked Savannah’s cheek.
